Great singles need an epic beat, solid lyrical artist, and a great concept to be acceptable to the hip hop fans today. During the summer, everyone needs "that song" where nothing else matters but the fun in the sun, the beach and people enjoying themselves, being carefree, wild and fun. Los Angeles rap crew Yard Down dropped that summer heat delivering the catchy anthem that has everyone saying "a-- in the air."
Yard Down Musik CEO G-Nutt has taken his crew of all-stars from local to mainstream in his new single"Face Down." "We are running a tight business and we want to make music for everyone, that's why we got with Ty Dolla to get a hit." The song features Atlantic recording artist, Ty Dolla $ign, blessing the track with his signature voice. Dolla $ign received his big break in the summer of 2010 with the success of the single "Toot It and Boot It," featuring Los Angeles artist YG. Dolla $ign has went on to collaborate with many artists and has made popular songs such as "4 A Young" and "My Cabana," with Young Jeezy.
The mastermind behind the "Face Down" beat was League of Stars producer Tone Bone. Tone received his big break in 2010 producing beats for E-40, and has worked with artist such as Snoop Lion, Problem, and YG. "All I need to do is be to myself and I will make it happen," says Tone Bone.
I went behind the scenes with the artists to talk about their plans for the group. The video below includes interviews with Ty Dolla $ign, Tone Bone, G-Nutt, Fingers Fam and the Gladiators.
