A petition is going around the city of Los Angeles in regards to improving the People St Plaza in South Central.

The focus of the project is to take underused areas of the city and make them vibrant and accessible public space with People St, a program of the City of Los Angeles Department of Transportation (LADOT).
The residents are aiming to make 43rd Place from Degnan to Leimert Boulevards a pedestrian only area. The 43rd Plaza is the home of the monthly art walk and a host to several creative spaces and events.
The community partners are excited and 100 percent supportive in expanding the area with new developments such as community art spaces, galleries, and a permanent installation that celebrates the area’s cultural and architectural/art Deco heritage while also reflecting their hopes for its future as a creative district according to Streetsblog LA.
